About MeI am a final-year master's candidate in OU's Strategic Communication program, and I have cultivated technical skills outside my academic field. In 2019, I completed a bachelor's in Public Relations and two minors in Management Information Systems and Enterprise Studies. I graduated as a National Merit Scholar with Honors distinction.
In RStudio, I've built a searchable database of the Oklahoma Criminal Statutes as well as analyzed and gendered three million rows of criminal justice records. I used R, ESRI ArcMap, and Tableau to construct an interactive map that visualizes stories written about the displacement of the "Exiled to Indian Country" project. I have also written and published a piece about the Oklahoma meth crisis and state Medicaid expansion through the Oklahoma Policy Institute. My belief that people should be the point of every action led me to write a feature story for The OU Daily while I was on staff as a copy editor and social media engagement editor; to plan and implement conferences and fundraising efforts as an assistant to the director of the nonpartisan Women's Leadership Initiative (WLI); and to serve as an OU resident adviser to 60 university freshmen. I have also interned for the Monarch Marketing Group in Oklahoma City, where I analyzed market data, created interactive databases and informational visuals, and built presentations for clients such as the Boathouse Foundation, the Oklahoma City Zoo, and Southwestern Oklahoma State University. I served as the elected treasurer of OU PRSSA for a year, during which I represented my Star Chapter at the 2018 PRSSA National Conference in Austin and after which we won another Star Chapter award. I am a two-time undergraduate attendee of the International Public Relations Research Conference (IPRRC), where I presented academic papers I worked on alongside Dr. Jensen Moore and other collaborators. I'm an alumna of the 2019 class of N.E.W. Leadership, a prestigious flagship conference for women's leadership that is spearheaded by the Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP) and presented by the nonpartisan Carl Albert Congressional Research and Studies Center. Most recently, I interned as a full-time data analyst with the OK Policy Institute's Open Justice Oklahoma program. I am currently aiding Gaylord College professors in their teaching and research as a graduate assistant through the 2019-2020 academic year. I will defend a project that explores and hopefully structures the state's tenants' rights movement for my client, Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma (LASO). I understand that data-driven storytelling is essential to creating measurable change in society, and I intend to continue to hone and apply my skills with that goal in mind. I am seeking full-time professional opportunities with a May 2020 start date. |
